This is a rather late post but here are the mood-board and poster designs i did for DMB. I am really bad at designing and Photoshop, thus the posters were not up to expectations but i did try my best. I tried to showcase couples and Between's cute stickers and functions. For my first moodboard,

placed all the key features and some of the cute stickers that between has. The final poster was something quite similar.

It was very messy and the stickers not very promotional. I will try my best to improve it the next time round to fit the concept of Between. My second moodboard and Poster focused more on couples and love.

A little too simple and the message wasn't clear too. Joash gave me some good feedback and I will work on the feedback given by him and my lecturer.  :)

Meet up with Joash :)

On Monday we met up with Joash again to hear his opinions about our video. As mentioned by my team mates, he seemed to like the idea of the stop motion video but would like us to change our storyline. Instead of working with a story, he encouraged us to do something like " 5 ways to maintain a long distance relationship" and try to make it funny while promoting between app.

We also showed him the posters in which we've done for DMB. He gave loads of constructive feedback for us to work on and hopefully for the next assignment in DMB, we could design better posters which he is able to use on Between's social media pages. Besides that, we talked about the Facebook posts and hopefully we could start posting our content on Between's Facebook page :)

After the meetup, we went back to school to come up with ideas for our videos and an agenda list of all the props we needed. Despite it being late and most of them being tired, I'm really grateful  my team mates are still willing to stay back for awhile and come up with various good ideas. Hopefully we're able to complete filming and edit everything by next week if things go smoothly~ Here are some of the ideas which we discussed :

Plus, we'll be starting on our Practical 3 too! Good luck guys and have fun with the assignments :)

Video for DMB

we were required to make a video for our client in another module, DMB. My team mates came up with the idea of doing something similar to a "draw my life" video which was very popular among Youtubers for a period of time. But our lecturer told us to do change it into a stop motion animations so that we could use a variety of camera angles and be able to catch the emotions of the 2D Characters.

We stayed back after lessons to draw out the props we needed. Honestly, I am terrible at drawing so I drew the least. But all the props which i drew got rejected by the rest of my team mates. :( But it's alright, I got to admit, they're really good at drawing! Even though some just traced the pictures from their laptops and phones.

We had so much fun taking pictures of the characters and trying to piece each part of the story together. Figuring out how we could make the story better along the way. Though by the end of the day, everyone is drained and tired, we managed to finish taking the photos and let Yak Siong edit it into a pretty video. I'm really happy with the way the video turned out and the good news is, our client liked it too! There's more to improve and hopefully we can make a video which satisfies both our lecturer and the client :))) Jia-yous team!!

Meetup with Joash and DMB updates

As mentioned by my other group members, we've got the rough cut of our video for DMB. We ran it through Joash on Monday and he seemed to like the concept. However, he suggested that we change the plot as a story based plot is tougher to execute. So right now, the current idea is to do something along the lines of " 5 ways to ..."

Other than that, we updated him on our posters as well and he gave up some constructive feedback that we're to work on this holiday. For our next DMB assignment we decided to do a cover page for between Singapore. We decide to stick with the festive season and Joash suggested that we do one for Singapore's 50th birthday next year.

The facebook posts should start going up after we finalise the content.

Joash also updated us on the events going on with between, such as events and things they plan to push out.

We should start filming and editing the video starting next week, and hope that we can push something out before the end of the month.

The roughcut video is in YS's Post
We already did a animetics video but i forget to post about the process. We actually draw out the props, and highlight it with black marker and paste it on the sticks , the props we've drawn are buildings, such as the "Between Poly" and Changi Airport. The couples, dinosaur and victim (In the movie) . Beside using the props, we also draw the background and settings on the whiteboard for certain scenes .We also drawn the shadow on the background for the objects/characters. It took us roughly around $10 to make the props and 5-7 hours to finish the taking the pictures of the scenes and arrange them in sequence. Then Yak Siong will be the one edit the videos and add in audio tracks as background music of the video .

Meet up with Joash at Dec 15

We meet up with Joash at Dec 15, to further refine the story line with us, such as including 5 ways on how to improve long distance relationship for couples . He also gave comments for our posters and the ways to improve it as well. Joash think Yak Siong's poster is the best among 5 of us because of it's good concept of the calendar functions of Between. He also give us ideas on what to post on Facebook as well and discuss some of the "Between" App competitors as well . This meeting was quite fruitful and we are able to come out with ideas to put into the story line .

Video Animatics

This is our video animatics that we would be showing to Joash to see whether the idea is fine, once Joash approves we will be able to continue with the actual prop making and filming of the final video.

The story was thought of by yang ping and everybody contribute in making the props.

Final Poster Designs (DMB)

After presenting and getting more feedback on which part I should focus, I came out with these final poster designs. All the photos used in the poster designs I made are taken personally by going to the locations and asking my friends to help out to be as the character in the poster so there won’t be copyright issues. The main topic of my posters are what couples do together and I also kept my color scheme simple, based on white and blue(Between colors). Below are the posters I submitted for my DMB CA1 project, the marketing posters for Between.

Poster 1
I had this idea from Mr Leon, I used his sample for me and came out this.
Reason for designing the poster like this is because we are helping Between to target Singapore's market so i went out to take scenery of Singapore. By adding a couple photo and the quote, I hope it shows that this app is for couples. And as to what Mr Leon suggested to me, focus straight into the app as we are trying to market it, thus there's the hand using Between.

Poster 2 (2 different versions)
As a first time designing a poster to help promote an application, i didn't know which effect of showing the focus of the poster would be the best for the client to promote the app thus i came out with 2 different version. For this poster, I kept it simple by just showing a couple holding hands, and a function "calender" on the app. I want to bring across the message of the sentence i used on the posters.

DMB Posters (first hand ideas)

We had to come out with marketing posters design for our module Digital Media for Business, for our client Between. After brainstorming within our group, we came out with a group mind map then we move on to come out with our own mind map, which I focused on activities couples do. With a more detail mind map on what I am supposed to do, I came out with a few simple designs and different mood boards to develop more ideas. Below are a few of my first hand poster ideas. I asked for suggestions and also present these ideas to Mr Leon for opinions.

Mind maps:

Ideas (moodboards and posters)

CA1 presentation

We did our CA1 presentation on the Tuesday on the 25th of december, we were the first group to present from our class and I felt that we didn't presented quite well. We were all speaking too fast and nervous and our slides wasn't like how Miss Dora wanted as there was very little words which makes it hard for her to understand as there was too many details to be covered . Therefore for our next presentation we will make it easier for other people to catch what we are saying.

We also miss out on the project timeline but luckily Miss Dora gave us a chance to do it and let her see on the next day and she commented that we did a good job with the project timeline and were all relieve

Our project timeline

Final poster

So after Mr leon commented about my draft poster, he said that there there was improvement to be made to my concept. For the draft poster about the chat he said that it would be better to show Between sticker in a better way and more interactive and the draft poster on the calendar was in landscape which makes all the element in the poster very loose and so i change it to portrait, this poster will be shown to Joash.

Draft poster, Mood board and Mind map

For our DMB which is inline with our SMM project, we were task to create promotional poster of the company but first we had to create mood board and go through Mr leon for his feedback and to do the poster we had to understand the company at the back of our hands and I wanted to focus on promoting the company product key feature which was the calendar and chat feature. So i will be showing my two mood board and poster and Mind map.

Posters and mood boards for Between App

So eventually we've done our  own individual posters and mood boards for Digital Media for Business modules. For my posters and mood board, the theme is about love and both posters show that how couples can express their love with the use of Between App. In order to use the posters, we still need to wait for Joash approval .

Posters done up for between

For DMB, digital media for business, we've done up some posters to include in our marketing on the social media platforms. One of my poster is based on the articles that I'm assigned to, which is food based content. The other poster is just to promote between in general. We'll probably run the content to Joash and Pat to see if they'll approve it to be placed on their platforms. Both Joash and Pat are currently overseas so we'll most likely here from them when they get back!

Discussion for content

On the 26th of October, we met up at McDonald's to discuss and came up with some ideas to help promote the Between app on social media. It was really interesting to see that the guys were actually the ones who came up with most of the really good ideas. They were really creative too, coming up with ideas such as having a couple race in school, which i thought would be really fun to compete in if we manage to pull that idea off.

We looked through their Facebook and Instagram and realised that they were not engaging enough with their posts. Therefore we decided to focus on a topic which most couple could relate to. Most of us are always running out of ideas on where to go or what to eat on a date. By making " How to plan for a date" as our main category and then branched out into other smaller categories. Each of us was in charge of researching more about the sub categories. For example, mine was about where could couples go for sight seeing on dates. Not only working on SMM, we also though of some concepts for our DMB assignment which required us to make a poster as well as a video for the company.

After we had all gathered our researches and done brainstorming our ideas, we planned another meet-up session with Joash and Pat :]

Meeting with Joash @ one north 28 October

So, we arranged another meeting with Joash back in October. I forgot to write down a blog post that time so I'll do it now.

We met with Pat and Joash back at one north, and we pitched to him some of the ideas that we came up with. He was receptive to some but not to others. He encouraged us to go for the content up on the 2 platforms that we were to focus on. However he turned down the idea of setting a dedicated youtube, pinterest and twitter account. Between has of all the previous channels and perhaps he declined it because he wanted us to be more focused in terms of the content creation.
Aside from all of all the ideas that we had, we asked him about his company, mission, vision etc. He took a good half an hour explaining to us about the founders, competitors and how the company actually started. We took a voice recording of it all in case we missed out any minor details, but all in all the stories that he had were pretty interesting.
As for facebook content creation, he told us to approach it in a different way. Instead of creating original content, we would collate links and think up of captions to post with them, In the start we had doubts about stealing content, but after Joash's explanation we decided to stick with the experts.

Research for between

So after splitting up the work, I took up the post for food, where to eat in Singapore etc.
So as directed by Joash, I went to websites like hungrygowhere and food blogs such as ladyironchef to look for places that couples would want to visit.
Since cafes offer a cozy atmosphere and ambiance, I decided to look for places with high ratings and great looking food.
Decided to sort them out by area, and we sort of decided a way to categorize our content. On odd weeks, we would upload food related posts on Wednesdays and respective topics on Fridays and Sundays to offer a  variety of content. They would be uploaded at regular intervals so couples would know when to check back for each specific content.
So I'm in the works of compiling the information and sending it to Joash for approval

Meeting with Joash, Between In-charge

After gathering ideas and researches, we met up with Joash on the 28 of Oct. This is the second meeting with him for some of my group members but the first for me, because i missed the first meeting due to my work in the holidays. We had about an 1 to 1.5 hours of meeting.

We told them the ideas we have in mind and asked them if these ideas are approved and possible to execute. We got different opinions on different ideas we present, for example, we suggested in creating twitter and pinterest for them and they reject in creating twitter but is taking consideration on creating pinterest though they still might not accept it and only want to stick withe facebook and instagram. We took down notes on their opinions on our ideas and whatever they need from us during the meeting.

During the meeting, we also have asked them questions on their company, like their history, vision and mission, and products etc. We tried to gather all the details we needed for our CAs in the shortest time and one meeting so that we wouldn't need to bother them about these questions again on the second meeting, and the process of executing the marketing ideas would be able to move on more effectively too. After this meet up, we got some ideas on which ideas we presented is acceptable and we will be working towards it.

Researches on What Couples Do

- Researching on What Couples Do -

Other than just researching on the internet, I also went on asking people around me like my siblings and friends who are dating and then gather all the information I've got, I came out with a list of what couples do together. As shown below, this is just a list of what i have gathered, and of course there are more things couple can do together.

Other than that list of things stated above, I what couples do together can also be ranked according to their personality, likes and dislikes. Below is a short list of what couples can do together based on their personality.

Second meeting

So we met joash on 28/10/14 after school for our second meeting and pat was there too.So we settle down and we started our discussion and first we told joash what we have thought of and what we will be doing for them.Right after we told them what we prepare they started giving comments and ideas and we began discussing about the ideas one by one how to improve it or to reach a win win situation since they will be more experience in this kind of stuff whether it will work out. We toke note of everything on paper and recording for reference and decided that when we go home we will work on our idea more.

During this meeting we also ask them about the company history, Mission and Vision , Why is the app a success and moreto help us with the next part of our project.

My research for the race

After thinking about it since its just a start-up and doing it at a low course would be impossible as the manpower and resource needed would be huge and so I thought of getting sponsor to come in and help out this event as they would get some benefits also the race would be limited as doing a nation would be too large a project for us and so I decided to start small and Yenn suggested for me to maybe start in poly where it is near the target age group for Between.

Manpower wise we might get student help in return for CCA point

Prizes for winning we will discuss with Joash

To help them get like for their Instagram I thought of something like take a picture during the race and hastag it to something related to Between to greatly boast Between awareness.

Meeting at Mac on 26/10/14

We met up on the Sunday at Clementi mall to discuss about how we will be going on and if everything goes while we can arrange another meeting with our client to future our project.

We went through a session of brainstorming on a piece of fulscarp  paper and we came came out with a lot of things that we would want to do for the company and what we will be posting on the social media for them and since there was a lot of parts to the discussion we decided to split up the work load and have each of us choose a part of the discussion and research it back at home.

I had the part of thinking of a event or campaign for them and i research more about it since we wanted to do something like a couple race and so i went to think more in detail of what we can do during this race we thought of.

Group Meet Up on 26Oct2014

We had a group meet up at Clementi mall on the Sunday, to discuss ideas on the marketing side for between app. We gathered the ideas and wrote it on a foolscap (it's not with me but one of our member would post it). It was not a very long meet up but we came up with a few different ideas, hoping after further researches done by us, the ideas can be accepted. We gathered ideas like helping them to create twitter and pinterest, holding events and extra.

After gathering the ideas, we divide the workload equally to everyone and I got to do on "What Couples Do?" So I went on researching on articles and real life examples on the topic. The main thing i typed when researching online is "What do couples do together", "Dates", "Dating", "Couples dates" and I got a lot of different suggestions which lead to me getting more different suggestions and answers.

MacDonald's meetup on the 26/10/14

We met up on last sunday at Clementi Mall to discuss potential ideas that we can pitch to Joash, so we scribbled stuff on the foolscap paper and divided the work according to the type of articles that we were going to look for. I picked food as my topic to research on. Being a pretty general category, and since we're collaborating with between I felt that the information should be more couple oriented.

So after discussing, I went on the net to find places which might be enjoyed by couples. Mainly places with a great scenery and cafes with good food.

Hungry go where was a useful tool in aiding me with my search cause' they have a rating system which makes it easier for me to screen out the cafes by ratings. Also it made it easier for me to categorize them by location as we want this to be a weekly thing on their facebook site (eg. Cafes in the north for week one and in the south for week two etc.)

A picture of the paper would be posted up by one of the other members cause the paper isn't with me

Research on how to plan a date (For Between App)

I did a research on how to plan a date. Turns out , i found lots of information about how to plan a date successfully so that two parties will be able to spend quality time together and know each other better and improve their relationship. My research on this will be posted on "Between" Facebook page to give advise to couples how to plan their dates.

Based on this research, i found that there are many important factors that will affect the atmosphere and spirit during the date. Such as Venue, your own actions, activity, time, dressing and your own confidence as well.

Reply from spruce

So Spruce replied and expressed interest to work with us.I didn't really expect them to reply so I thought of passing on the project to Javier's group since they got rejected by daylight studios. Unfortunately, they'll probably be working together with vulcan post instead. Feel kinda bad that I've got to reject them
Hope I still can go there for food lul

Approaching a company

As stated in our assignment requirement, each of us in the team is required to find, research and approach a company of our choice to help them with their online marketing. While searching online, i came across the company Paywhere Pte Ltd. Paywhere is an e-commerce company which aims to empower businesses with our technology and watch them grow exponentially with their product TrackThis! and i thought it was rather interesting. I think it would be a fantastic learning opportunity for us if we are able to work with them as what they are doing has a relevance to our course. Below is a screenshot of the email sent to them.

Email To My Intended Company (Spruce)

As directed by the information on blackboard, I proceeded to look for my intended company for collaboration.
I decided to pick a bar/cafe-ish/restaurant close to my home. The location near my place was previously a fire station, which I think adds to the appeal of the place.
They've got live bands every other day and not to mention they have great looking food, it'll probably  be fun to work with them if they accept our request but unfortunately we already have another company to work for.
But either way, hope they reply me soon

Seeking a company

Our practical 2, question 2 require each member of the team to find a company and seek for collaboration with them in order to promote their company and increase in their sales revenue through the use of social media.

I found a cafe called 'Miam Miam' . This cafe is quite unique because it is a mixture of French and Japanese styles of food . It is kinda unique and interesting and the food are nice as well. Such as home made spaghetti, French bisque and sandwiches, pancakes, souffles, parfaits, rice and coffee. It’s distinctively Japanese but with French cooking techniques, which is very unique and hard to find in Singapore.

They have a Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/miam.sg

They have two outlets, one is located in Westgate and the other is at Bugis.

Westgate Outlet Contact Number- 63699065
Bugis Outlet Contact Number - 68370301

Their website is http://www.miam.sg/

The screenshot of my proposal.

Approaching a company (Max Tuition Center)

For our practical two each of us were task with finding a company to work with to improve their awareness through online marketing method.

For me I have found a tuition center which is around my neighborhood and my brother attend tuition lesson there and so I went to ask my brother for the number of the tuition center and my brother told me that he could give me the number of the boss to me so I text him directly on 25 October 2014 to ask his interest in our project

He replied expressing his interest and since we have already a company Between we decided to reject him so I ask my lecturer Miss Dora on how to go on. Below are the screen shot of the conversation.

The company email is  info@maxtc.com.sg

Their website is http://www.maxtc.com.sg/

They also have an existing Facebook website https://www.facebook.com/MaxTuitionCentre

Telephone number would be 6899 8422 / 9823 4406 and in this case I contacted his phone

Their main office is located at Block 151 Bukit Batok Street 11 #04-248 Singapore 650151
